Registration, Fees and Enrolment

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) will send out information on registration procedures in mid-July. The Student Accounts office will mail fees invoices and information between late July to early September (for fee information: http://www.fees.utoronto.ca). If you are a NEW student and you have not received your fees invoice, this would probably mean you have not cleared all conditions of admission. If this is the case, please contact Carrie.

Payment of fees will be accepted at most Canadian financial institutions. As proof of payment, keep the receipt section stamped by the teller, or the bank machine transaction slip. You will be required to show proof of payment before you can enroll. Students outside Canada may forward payment by certified cheque or money order to the Student Accounts Office, 215 Huron Street, Toronto, ON, M5S 1A2.

Deferred Payment of Fees
You may temporarily defer payment of fees if you have a scholarship or an award (UofT Fellowship, OGS, OGSST, NSERC, CIHR, Connaught, Beatty or other internal award) that covers at least 60% of your tuition fees. If you wish to defer your fees, send Carrie a request to do so by email - N.B. include your student number. Your tuition fees cannot be deferred unless you request that this be done. OSAP deferrals must be done through the School of Graduate Studies.

The Vice Provost recently approved fee deferrals for students who receive the University of Toronto Guaranteed Funding Package (minimum $12,000 + tuition fees). As a result, if you do not have an award or scholarship (as indicated above) you can now request a fee deferral based on your stipend alone.

Enrolment in Courses
You are considered to be registered as soon as you have paid tuition and incidental fees. However, it can take from one to seven days for the payment to get to the University. Until the University receives payment, you will not be able to ENROL in your courses. If your fees have been received, you should see a zero balance on ROSI. The website for ROSI is http://rosi.utoronto.ca. For first time users, your password is your birthday (DDMMYY). Note that ROSI will automatically enrol you in the thesis course, THS 9999Y, until you have finished your degree. You must enrol yourself in BCH2020 or 2022 and any other courses that you wish to take. Once you have registered in BCH2020 or BCH2022, your registration should roll-over automatically each year; however, you should check that this does happen. Some hints for adding/enrolling via the Student Web Service (ROSI): Section code refers to F (fall session), S (winter session or second term) or Y (full year course). Teaching method is LEC (lecture). Teaching section refers to the number of the class. Most graduate courses have only one teaching session (0101). If you encounter any problem, contact Carrie.

Student Cards and Email Accounts
All new students are required to have the photo-ID card (TCard), which serves as a student card and a library card. Cards may be obtained at Robarts Library, Rm 2054. The Library requires that you show two pieces of identification - a photo-ID and a document indicating your student number e.g. Offer of Admission Letter for new students or Fees Invoice for continuing students. Paper cards will not be issued to continuing students.

For further information on getting your TCard and creating your own email address see: http://www.library.utoronto.ca/headstart/
